Grew Out of the Forest Stories by Katinka Kraft and music by Anke Wisch 30.06.22 in Berlin, Lettrétage
Tickets – Grew Out of the Forest Berlin
This show connects the autobiogaphical story with the traditional to
bring forth that which is political, personal, and timeless, accompanied
by violin and loop station.
From fairy gateways to raven wisdom, these stories weave themselves
through the cobblestone streets of 80's Berlin to the moss covered
branches of the Pacific Northwest. As the tallest trees on earth hold
each other steady underneath the ground, how does one find roots while
being split between cultures, parents, and continents?
Katinka Kraft is a storyteller and spoken word artist. With a background
in spoken word and creative writing, Katinka fuses poetic awareness of
image, rhythm and sound with the connective quality and immediacy of
oral storytelling. Her work combines her memories of childhood, being
German American, queer femme identity, and her attempts to find
earth-bound truths worth digging her feet into. More info:
Anke Wisch started playing the violin at the age of five. For more than
half of her life she was part of FRÜCHTE DES ZORNS and has played with
other political singer-songwriters. Since 2015, she has worked with
stolen lyrics, voice, violin, and loop station as Diebin. She is looking
forward to using the voice of her instrument to express emotional
landscapes interwoven with the stories of Katinka Kraft.
